Thursday, August 26, 2021
6:00 PM-7:00 PM

Emma McClendon is a fashion historian, curator, and author based in New York City. While Associate Curator of Costume at The Museum at Fashion Institute of Technology from 2011-2020, McClendon curated numerous critically acclaimed exhibitions. She will speak about her exhibit "Uniformity," which explored the dynamic history behind a variety of uniforms, considering their social role and their influence on high fashion. The exhibition was organized thematically to focus on four categories of uniforms: military, work, school, and sports. Within each category, historic uniforms were juxtaposed with the high fashion looks they have inspired. She currently teaches in the MA Fashion Studies program at Parsons School of Design. Her work has been featured in "The New York Times", "The Economist", "CNN", "Vogue", "WWD", 'The Financial Times", and "The Wall Street Journal" among others.
