What does “landscape” mean in today’s world? Join Tyler Green, host of The Modern Art Notes podcast, for a look at our evolving definition of landscape, from Ralph Waldo Emerson’s landmark 1836 book, Nature, to the work of artists today. Many of the artists and artworks now on view in New Terrain are eagerly, pointedly creating a new landscape tradition for an era in which the idea of the American nation is being broadened, when climate change threatens life, and when our experience of nature is more separated from the land itself than at any time in our history.
