Auguste Renoir, The Hatpin (À chapeau épinglé), 1898, lithograph, exchange from Louis Black, 1954.210

December 16, 2006 - March 18, 2007

This installation of prints, drawings, and photographs reflects the vivacious Belle Epoque, “the Beautiful Era” at the turn of the last century when the French styles of Realism, Impressionism, Orientalism, and Art Nouveau simultaneously influenced art and fashion throughout the West. The presentation will include prints by Auguste Renoir and James McNeil Whistler, drawings by Edgar Degas and Maurice Prendergast, and photographs by Eugene Atget and Alfred Stieglitz. The attractive range of European and American works will be drawn from the Museum's permanent collection.
